Workers Compensation Claims

After Surgery Physiotherapy in Newcastle NSW

Physiotherapists play a key role in assessing, treating and rehabilitating individuals who sustain workplace related injuries. A referral is required from a General Practitioner prior to an initial consultation, where one of our Steer Physiotherapists will spend time with you discussing the nature of your injury, as well as your workplace roles and responsibilities. Your physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment, providing a report to your GP and case management team to update them on the prognosis of your recovery and likely return to work timeframe. They will also work alongside you to set some return to work and functional capacity goals, which will guide the development and outworking of your rehabilitation plan.

As part of your workers compensation claim, you are required to meet regularly with your physiotherapist where they will make assessments, progress treatment and regularly update your functional capacity, to determine suitable rehabilitation and return to work goals. Once attending physiotherapy, Steer will keep in regular contact with your case manager, nominated treating doctor, rehabilitation consultant and employer to assist you with a safe return to work.

Prior to attending your appointment at Steer, we will require some additional information in relation to your claim which includes:

  • Claim number
  • Date of accident/injury
  • Insurance details, including case manager’s name and contact details
  • Referral from a General Practitioner
